About the player
Bernhard Scherz came through the SG Waidhofen/Ybbs youth system in his home town of Waidhofen an der Ybbs before moving to SKU Amstetten's academy in 2023. He spent the 2023–24 season with the reserve side, SKU Amstetten II, making 17 appearances, and was part of the senior squad already in February 2024 for a fixture against Grazer AK. His promotion to the first team followed in 2024, and he made his professional debut in the Austrian 2. Liga that April, starting against SK Sturm Graz II.
The switch from Waidhofen/Ybbs to Amstetten carried no transfer fee, coming as an internal step up through the club's own youth pipeline rather than a market move. Scherz remains part of the SKU Amstetten squad.
