Cody Baker

Cody Baker came up through Seattle's own pipeline rather than arriving from elsewhere: he joined the Sounders Discovery Program in 2015 and moved into the Academy in 2018, having started out with the local Issaquah Gunners. That path culminated in a Homegrown Player contract on 16 May 2023, making 12 appearances that season and 15 the following year.

In September 2025 he spent a spell on loan at Sacramento Republic FC in the USL Championship, featuring in seven matches before returning to Seattle. He was part of the Sounders squad that beat Inter Miami 3–0 in the final to win the 2025 Leagues Cup, a result that also secured qualification for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

In July 2026, Baker was loaned to New England Revolution for the remainder of the season, with Seattle receiving New England's first-round pick in the 2027 MLS SuperDraft as part of the deal. The move also carries a conditional purchase option: should he meet specific performance metrics, New England can sign him permanently in 2027 for a fee in General Allocation Money plus a 2028 second-round pick, reverting the original first-round selection back to Seattle, along with the potential for further allocation money on top.

Baker has yet to earn a cap for the United States national team.
