Esteban Fernandez

Esteban Fernández came up through River Plate's academy from the age of eight and captained the club's reserve team, scoring twice in seventeen matches for the "División Reserva". He made a friendly first-team appearance under Martín Demichelis in March 2023 but never featured for River Plate in an official competitive match. He is credited as a winner of the 2023 Liga Profesional Apertura with River Plate.

That move was a loan to Newell's Old Boys in August 2023, where he made nine appearances and scored twice, including a double in a 2-0 Copa Argentina win over Ferrocarril Midland in March 2024. Newell's chose not to make the deal permanent, and Fernández returned to River Plate before leaving as a free agent in February 2025 to join Arsenal de Sarandí, then in the Primera Nacional. He scored four goals in 29 appearances there over the 2025 season.

In January 2026 he moved on loan again, this time to Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza, with an option to buy attached. The switch has given him regular football in the Liga Profesional Argentina, where he has established himself as a starter, contributing two goals and three assists in 17 matches. His standout display came in August 2026, when he scored and set up two more in a 3-0 win over Independiente, and he added another goal in a 2-2 draw with Boca Juniors the following month.

Fernández has not been capped by Argentina's senior national team.
