About the player
Jonathan Arroyo has spent his career on the move, and the right-back from Latacunga began at CSD Macará, playing in the Serie B before switching to CD La Unión. A spell at CD Independiente Juniors followed, then a move to Gualaceo SC, also in the Serie B, before he signed for Leones del Norte in early 2025.
The team won promotion to Liga Pro, Ecuador's top division, for the 2026 season, and Arroyo has held down a regular starting place in defence through the step up. Wearing the number four shirt, he has established himself as a fixture in the side.
He has picked up occasional "Best Player" ratings for single matches from betting-data sites, but no club or individual trophies feature in his record so far. None of his transfers between clubs has carried a publicly disclosed fee, in keeping with the lower-profile nature of Serie B football in Ecuador, where much of his career to date has unfolded before this year's step up to the top division.
