Joran Gerbet

Joran Gerbet's route to Major League Soccer ran through American college soccer rather than a French academy. Born in Valence, he crossed the Atlantic to begin his senior career at Oregon State University, where he spent two seasons, making 36 appearances and scoring twice. He then moved on to Clemson University, and it was there that he continued to develop: across two years with the Clemson Tigers he made 42 appearances and scored 10 goals, with 2024 standing out as his breakout campaign.

Notably, Gerbet played much of his college career as a forward, a dynamic attacking presence up front. His move into professional football brought a shift in role: entering the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, he was signed by Orlando City SC in February that year, and the club has used him as a defensive midfielder.

The adjustment has been gradual. In his debut league campaign with Orlando City he made 18 appearances, eight of them starts, without finding the net.
