About the player
Manuel Romero Galeano's football education began far from home, before a string of trials took him around South America. It was only when he returned to Paraguay that his career found firmer ground.
At General Caballero JLM, the centre-back built the bulk of his career, winning the Primera División B Nacional in 2018 and the División Intermedia title in 2021 as the club worked its way toward the Paraguayan top flight. He became a regular fixture there across the 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 seasons.
In June 2025, Romero moved abroad again, joining Guatemalan side Xelajú MC as a free agent. The switch marked his first sustained run in Central American football, and he settled into the side immediately: 21 appearances in the Liga Nacional's Apertura 2025, worth 1,527 minutes on the pitch and a goal to his name, plus nine further appearances in the CONCACAF Central American Cup. Between the two competitions he played 30 matches in his debut season at the club.
He has not been capped by Paraguay at any level.
