M. Vales

Mattias Vales is a product of Pacific FC's own development pathway rather than a signing brought in from elsewhere. He worked his way up through club soccer in Greater Victoria with Juan de Fuca Soccer and the Gorge Soccer Association, then the Trident Development Program, before playing for the Vancouver Island Wave, with whom he won the BCSPL League Title and Provincial Premier Cup. Pacific FC's partnership with St. John's Academy in Shawnigan Lake gave the club an early look at him, and in early 2025 he trained with VfL Bochum's under-21 side in Germany through a link between Pacific FC and the Bundesliga club.

He signed his first development contract with Pacific FC in June 2024, a deal that let him keep his amateur status while making a handful of appearances, and re-signed on the same terms in March 2025. His senior debut came in the Canadian Championship against Vancouver FC on 6 May 2025, followed by his first Canadian Premier League appearance on 17 May 2025. At the start of 2026 the club moved him onto an Exceptional Young Talent Standard Player Contract, securing him through 2027 with club options beyond that, and sent him out on loan to TSS FC Rovers in CPL2 for the season, where he made one appearance.

Vales has not featured for any Canadian youth or senior national side, but he did represent Team BC at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John's, Newfoundland, and was the only British Columbian named to the Team Canada Starting XI for the tournament. He scored twice there as the side took bronze.
