Maksim Nikiforov

Maksim Nikiforov came through the Rubin Kazan academy, where he made his name at youth level rather than in the first team. Across the 2022/23 season he finished as top scorer in the YFL-1, the country's youth league, with 11 goals in 26 matches for Rubin's U19 side — a return that stood out even though the step up to senior football did not follow at the same club.

He left Rubin as a free agent in June 2023 to join Spartak Moscow, where he continued at youth level with Spartak-2 in the MFPL. He scored his first goal for the side in a derby against CSKA-M, and over the season added five goals and three assists in 31 appearances. A move to Second League side Murom followed in 2024, where he featured regularly — 33 appearances — but did not find the net, contributing four assists instead. A brief stint at Dynamo-2 Moscow in 2025 brought one goal in seven matches before he moved on again.

Each of those transfers came on a free, and the pattern continued in July 2026 when he joined Spartak Kostroma on a contract until 2028. He made his professional debut for the club on 12 July 2026 against KAMAZ in the PARI First League, coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute of a 3–1 win. Since then he has added further appearances in the First League and the Russian Cup, though minutes have been limited and he is yet to open his scoring account for the club.
