Matías Fonseca

Matías Fonseca was born in Naples to Uruguayan parents and started out in Como's youth ranks before Inter Milan brought him into their academy in 2016. He worked his way up through the club's youth sectors and was promoted to the first team in 2021, but a first-team league appearance never came. Instead, Inter sent him out on loan twice, first to Pergolettese, where he scored once in 21 appearances, then to Imolese, where he added two goals in 15 matches.

The move that reshaped his career came in January 2023, when he left Italy for Montevideo Wanderers in Uruguay. He made 50 appearances and scored eight goals before a brief spell at Racing Club de Montevideo in 2025, where he featured five times. In June 2025, Fonseca joined Instituto de Córdoba on a free transfer, signing through December 2027.

He made his debut for the club in the Torneo Apertura 2026 and marked it with his first goal for Instituto, in a 2-0 win over Central Córdoba. On the international stage, Fonseca has represented Uruguay's under-23 side at the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, making three appearances, and turned out for the Uruguay Local National Team in friendlies against Costa Rica and Guatemala the same year. He has not been capped by the senior national side.
