Mayer Andrés Gil Hurtado

Mayer Andrés Gil Hurtado was born in Yopal, Casanare, and built his career in El Salvador before returning to Colombia. He came through CD FAS and Atlético Marte, then in August 2022 signed with Alianza Petrolera as a free agent. His breakthrough moment there is hard to top: on debut against Deportivo Pasto in March 2023, he scored twice, including a spectacular overhead kick followed by a volley. That form earned him a three-year contract extension in May 2023 and, across his time at the club, six league goals in 47 appearances.

Although born in Colombia, Gil holds El Salvador nationality and has represented the national team, with a goal that supporters there still bring up. Coming on as a substitute against Panama at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, he scored a stoppage-time equaliser in the fourth minute of added time to make it 2–2. He also went through El Salvador's under-20 side, scoring three goals in four appearances during 2022 qualifying for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.

When Alianza Petrolera dissolved and relocated to Valledupar as Alianza FC in 2024, Gil stayed with the club through the transition. In January 2026 he moved on loan to Deportivo Pasto, with the loan running until the end of the year. He has already got on the scoresheet in the Primera A for his new club, including against Junior de Barranquilla.

Football runs in the family: his father, Cristian Gil, played professionally in Colombia, and his brothers Brayan Gil and Cristian Gil Jr. are also professional footballers.
