Australia Under-19s

The Melbourne Cricket Ground holds just over 100,000 people. Australia's youth side has used it as home turf since its earliest Test outing in 1979, against England, and still trains a short walk away at the Bupa National Cricket Centre by Allan Border Field.

The team itself dates to 1978, a year before that first fixture, and wears the yellow and green of Australian sport without reaching for the senior side's "Baggy Green" tag.

Four Under-19 World Cup wins mark the team out: 1988 on home soil, 2002 and 2010 in New Zealand, and 2024.

What the side is best known for now, though, is who passed through it. Steve Smith turned up at the 2008 World Cup in Malaysia not as captain but as an all-rounder finding his feet, scoring 114 runs and taking seven wickets. Gurinder Sandhu went from the 2012 tournament to an ODI debut inside three years.

Four World Cups won since 1978.
