Burnley Women

The women's side at Turf Moor began in 1995, when John Lister put together what was then registered as Burnley FC Girls and Ladies. That change came only for 2025–26, when the club turned the squad professional after climbing into the FA Women's Championship.

Ground has followed the club's rise. For years matches went on at the Lancashire County Ground in Leyland, holding a few thousand; since 2023 the team has been shifting fixtures to Turf Moor itself.

The league record traces the climb tier by tier: Division Three in 2003–04, the Premier Division in 2017–18, Division One North in 2018–19, and the Northern Premier Division in 2025–26. Cup form has run alongside it — three straight Lancashire FA Women's Senior Cup titles from 2022–23 to 2024–25.

The dugout has moved fast this year: Matt Beard took over in June 2025 and was gone by August, Louise Roberts held the post on an interim basis, and Ross Wallace was named manager in February 2026. Alethea Paul captains a squad that includes Kirstie Levell in goal, a former England youth international who has stayed through the club's rise from regional football.

Blackburn Rovers Women supply the fixture that matters most locally, the East Lancashire derby, including a 13-0 win in September 2025. With the move to Turf Moor now under way and Wallace newly in charge.
