Dudelange

Twenty-three league titles and eighteen national cups make it the most successful club the country has produced, and the run stretches from the 1960s all the way to a championship won as recently as 2025.

The club's own history folds in on itself a little. It began life in 1959 as part of Handball Basket Dudelange, a joint handball-and-basketball outfit, and the handball side won its first title within three years. The basketball section broke away in 1971 to become T71 Dudelange, and the handball club that remained was re-formed as its own legal entity in 1974 — though it has always counted its trophies from 1962 onward, treating the split as a formality rather than a fresh start.

Matches are played at the Centre sportif René Hartmann. The club has long worn blue and white, though a 2024 rebrand added navy and electric orange and gave supporters a new name to shout: Les Renards, the Foxes, alongside the older nickname La Forge du Sud, a nod to the furnaces that once defined the town. Frank Hippert, one of two brothers who have played centre back for the club, currently captains the side. Games against Red Boys Differdange carry the weight of the biggest domestic rivalry.

It is still, in the end, a club that grew out of a multi-sport society in a steelworking town — the same town it has represented, under one name or another, since 1959.
