Ikorodu City

Ikorodu, a mainland district within Lagos, sits some distance from the waterfront clubs that have long defined the city's football — Lagos Island's stadiums, the older names. Ikorodu City FC gave the area a senior club of its own, formed in January 2022 and pitched straight into the Nigeria National League. It did not linger there: two seasons on, in June 2024, the club beat Madiba FC 2-0 in the Southern Conference playoff decider to finish as runners-up and go up to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Oga Boys play at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, a ground they share with Inter Lagos and Sporting Lagos — a crowded fixture list for one stadium, and the source of the derby that matters most to them. Games against Inter Lagos are billed locally as the Lagos Derby; matches with Shooting Stars carry the weight of a Southwest derby instead.

Promotion was managed by Bright Ozebagbe, who had stepped up from his post as assistant to Sadiq Dabiri, the club's founding coach. Ozebagbe resigned partway through the promotion-winning campaign in the top flight, and it was Nurudeen Aweroro who took the team through the rest of that debut NPFL season and turned results around. Off the back of two Lagos State FA Cups, in 2023 and 2024, and a Lagos Supremacy Cup won on penalties in 2025, the club has built its identity on the academy rather than the transfer market, pushing through teenagers like Freedom Marvelous and Leonard Ngenge.

The captain, Waliu Ojetoye, is the one supporters point to first — the player who has carried the armband through the club's short climb from a two-year-old league entrant to a Federation Cup semi-finalist inside four seasons.
