Ivanic Women

Ivanić-Grad sits in Zagreb County, the kind of place where a small sports hall can carry a club's whole story. ŠSD "Žeravinec" is where ŽRK Ivanić plays now, a hall that opened in 2006 and has since had its energy systems renovated.

The women's section formed in the autumn of 1952 and played its first match against Kartonaža of Zagreb. The senior team's high point came decades later, in 1983, when it won the Championship of SR Croatia, a year after finishing runners-up. Since Croatian independence, the top-tier 1. HRL and the national cup have stayed out of reach; the club's honours since then have come lower down, in regional and second-tier titles, and in a single season, 2012/13, spent at the top level before dropping back.

Ana Malec came through that side before moves to ŽRK Bjelovar and then ŽRK Lokomotiva Zagreb, where she won championships; she debuted for Croatia's national team in 2022 and was still in the squad for the 2025 World Championship.

In the 2. HRL West, where the first team plays now, ŽRK Trešnjevka is the club Ivanić-Grad measures itself against most, with Dugo Selo '55 and Udarnik making up the rest of the local competition. None of it carries an official derby name. What the club, known to its own as the Ivanićanke, has not managed since 1983 is another senior title at the top of Croatian handball.
