Midtjylland Håndbold

Ikast Håndbold, still widely known by the abbreviation FCM from its years as FC Midtjylland Håndbold, plays in red and black now, though the club wore blue and yellow until 2008. The switch came well after the team had already built the record that gives the rivalry its weight: four Danish Championships, taken in 1998, 2011, 2013 and 2015, and eight Danish Cups stretched from 1990 to 2019.

What separates the club from most domestic rivals is how far its ambitions carried beyond Denmark. The 1998 season alone brought the EHF Challenge Cup and the EHF Champions Trophy on top of the domestic double.

Before any of that, in June 1970, there was no FCM at all, only two local associations, Ikast DUI and Ikast Skytte Gymnastik Forening, merging their handball departments to put one team on the floor instead of two.
