Adie Moran Park

Whitefield, United Kingdom

Formerly: Grimshaw Park

Adie Moran Park sits on Sandgate Road in Whitefield, where a club has kept watch over the pitch since 1938. The ground carries the name of Adie Moran, a man who died suddenly on the eve of a season and now lives on in the title of the place he managed.

Prestwich Heys have played here for more than a decade, after moving from Grimshaw Park when the council closed the old site and the club needed ground that met the grading rules. They returned to the North West Counties League in 2016–17 following a thirty-year absence, and the following spring they won the Gilgryst Cup Final at this same pitch, beating Manchester Gregorians 1–0. That double stood as the high point until an FA Cup run saw them drawn against Bootle in August 2023. They won that 3–1 and set a new record of 254 in the stands, a number that fits comfortably inside the 1,000 capacity and away from the edge of the terraces.

The surface is natural grass, kept flat and striped, with cones and balls scattered across it during training. A new 100-seater stand opened in August 2022, sponsored by Global Auctioneers and cut open by the Mayor of Bury. The FA Vase has brought Penrith and Harborough Town to the pitch, and the Gilgryst Cup has brought more than just the final day.
