Bayuemas Oval
Klang, Malaysia
Formerly: Bayuemas Cricket Oval, Pandamaran Oval
The ground sits in Pandamaran, a suburb of Klang. It opened in 2004 and was laid out by the New Zealand Sports Turf Institute, which built the playing surface to drain quickly after heavy rain.
Bayuemas Oval hosts the Malaysia national team and the women’s side for One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals, though the fixtures are few and far between. The capacity is 3,000, and the gates rarely fill that space unless the occasion is one the local cricket board has decided to push for. The ends are named Sime Darby End and Golden Hope End after former landowners and local areas, but those names sit quietly in the background and do not appear on the scoreboard. The venue carries no commercial title and is run directly by the Malaysian Cricket Association, which manages bookings and maintenance through its main website.
Nothing distinguishes the ground from any other cricket oval in Southeast Asia beyond its location between the Klang River and the newer housing developments that have replaced the rubber plantations. The stands offer little shade, and the walk from the nearest road takes ten minutes along Jalan Besar. It is a functional space, built for the sport and nothing else, and it serves its purpose when the cricket board needs a venue for a match that does not require a larger stadium.
