Chadfields

Chadfields is the kind of place that remembers its past, a patch of land that has lived through more than just ninety-minute matches. The site was originally a greyhound racing track before the Ministry of Defence took over during the war. It lay derelict until Tilbury FC officials and supporters rebuilt it into a sports ground, agreeing terms with the local council.

The pitch is natural grass, and the floodlights were erected in 1966. The club purchased the ground from the council in 1949, and they have played there ever since. The capacity is 4,000, with approximately 350 seated places. Some sources cite the inauguration or significant development year as 1950, but the club has played there since 1946.

The stadium is shared with Grays Athletic FC. Notable tenants have included Hashtag United and Brimsdown. The all-time attendance record is 5,500, set in the 1949–50 season during an FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round Replay against Gorleston. Tilbury FC's best FA Cup performance was reaching the Third Round in 1977–78, where they lost to Stoke City after defeating Kettering Town and Nuneaton Borough.

In 2021, planning permission was granted for a new community stadium and housing on the site. Construction began in 2023 with developer Apex Platinum Investments Limited (APIL), but in March 2025, APIL withdrew from the project due to rising construction costs and financial pressures, gifting the completed work to the club. The stadium features a main clubhouse with a licensed bar, a function hall, a tea bar, covered seating behind the dugouts, covered terracing, and an uncovered terrace behind the north goal.
