Donau-Arena

The Donau-Arena stands within the World Heritage Site of Regensburg. It functions as a football ground for the city's utility company. The building opened in 1999.

The scale is modest. The capacity sits around 4,700, a number that suggests a local focus rather than a destination for major international events. Renovations in 2015 added functional space, including locker rooms and offices, prioritising operation over spectacle. The name carries the prefix from the long-term operator, das Stadtwerk, anchoring the venue firmly to the city's infrastructure.

It hosts everything from handball matches to concerts, but there is nothing here that begs for a legend. The open facade points towards the Walhalla-Allee, and the interior is built for efficiency. It is a place that hosts events without claiming to be one. The surface changes depending on the week, shifting from ice to wood, adapting to whatever sport or show is booked. It does not need to be anything else.
