DRINX Arena

The club was founded in 1938, and the hall they built opened in 1977. It stood there through the decades as a quiet centre for community sport, hosting the North Jutland women’s handball championship when that was still a significant event.

The change came in 2018, when Vendsyssel Håndbold purchased the facility from the municipality for the symbolic price of one krone. They extended the structure and laid a new floor to create a dedicated home for their handballers. The renaming to DRINX Arena followed these renovations, reflecting the sponsorship of the wine store chain that had become visible by 2021. Inside, the layout is tight. Spectators sit close to the court. The capacity is 600.

For Vendsyssel, this was their stage. They played in the Damehåndboldligaen during the 2020–2021 season, and in the 2019–2020 campaign they led the 1st Division before the season was cancelled due to the pandemic. They were named champions and promoted. A local derby against Sæby HK on November 17, 2019, drew a sell-out crowd and ended in a decisive 36–16 victory. The attendance record for the arena sits at 600, matching the capacity exactly.

The club’s tenure ended in February 2022 when the team went bankrupt. The arena remains, however, serving local clubs such as F.f.I Fodbold and Sæby Håndboldklub. It is an indoor hard court, distinct from the outdoor ground associated with football at the same location.
