DS Yunost

The DS Yunost arena in Chelyabinsk sits on 51 Sverdlovsky Prospekt. The building rose from a modified project of the Palace of Sports in Minsk.

The arena itself has seen its purpose shift over time. For decades it was the home of HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, a major professional team that played there until moving to a new arena in 2009. Since the 2012/2013 season, the venue has hosted HC Chelmet of the Supreme Hockey League.

During the 1970s, the Soviet national figure skating team trained here, and the floor hosted concerts by international and Russian artists, including Scorpions and Limp Bizkit. A renovation in 2014 replaced the old wooden seats with soft chairs, which initially reduced the capacity for hockey before figures settled back around 3,650. The playing surface is artificial ice.

The building remains in the Tsentralny District, standing as a remnant of a larger era. While the city has moved on to newer facilities, this hall still holds its place, hosting everything from hockey matches to large-scale events.
