Duhok Stadium

The stadium sits in Duhok where the city meets the mountains. The original structure opened in 1986, according to the records kept by Arabic Wikipedia and Wikidata, though some sources point to 1992; the earlier date carries the weight of official documentation. A first renovation happened in 1998, but the work that matters most came just before the 2024–2025 season. Upgrades were completed to meet the licensing requirements for the Iraq Stars League, and the ground was ready to host the opening match on September 20, 2024.

What you see from the stands is clear enough. The surface is natural grass. The capacity stands at 22,800, a figure that appears most often in recent records, even if a few places still list 20,000 or 25,000. The highest crowd, 22,800, turned out for the Iraq Stars League match between Duhok SC and Al-Shorta SC on May 24, 2025.

The ground has also been used for wider competitions. It hosted AFC Cup matches against Dempo SC in 2011, and more recently the 2024–25 GFF Gulf Club Champions League, which Duhok SC won. The AGCFF Gulf Club Super Cup 2026 was inspected and selected for the venue in August 2026. There is talk of a new stadium. Governor Ali Tatar announced a plan for a larger venue in October 2024, saying the current facility no longer meets all FIFA standards for future growth, but no completion date or cost has been confirmed.
