Estádio 11 de Novembro
Luanda, Angola
The Estádio 11 de Novembro sits alongside the Via Expresso in the Kilamba Kiaxi district of Luanda.
The ground has seen its share of high-stakes events. In August 2025, it hosted a concert by Fally Ipupa that drew over 50,000 spectators. Later that year, a friendly match against Argentina saw Lionel Messi on the pitch for Angola’s 50th anniversary of independence. That game drew a crowd of 43,000, nearly 90 per cent of the stadium’s capacity. It was not a quiet evening, however. A confrontation between police and fans denied entry outside the stadium resulted in 70 injuries, including 23 from trampling.
The venue remains a central hub for Angolan football. Atlético Petróleos de Luanda call it home, and other Luanda-based clubs such as CD Primeiro de Agosto and GD Interclube frequently use it for high-profile matches. The surface is natural grass, which underwent replacement during renovations in 2023 rather than a switch to artificial turf.
