Estádio Deusdeth de Melo

The Estádio Deusdeth de Melo is a record of its transfer to the state authorities in the 1980s. The stadium was eventually repatriated to the city in 2013, but the physical changes tell a longer story of neglect.

Outside, the main entrance is a low white building with a bright green fascia reading ESTÁDIO DEUSDETH DE MELO. A signpost to the left displays the football player icon, and a small BILHETERIA window sits on the wall.

The structure itself feels simple and functional, lacking the grandeur of larger venues. The sky above is vast and cloudy, stretching over the flat landscape of the São João neighborhood.

Recent years have been tough for the pitch. Match postponements due to poor conditions have become common, leading to a closure for a six-month modernization project to replace the grass and install a new irrigation system. During this time, matches are played elsewhere. The highest recorded attendance in recent history was 510 spectators for an opening match of the Campeonato Piauiense in 2023. It is a modest venue, but one that remains central to the local clubs, Comercial Atlético Clube and Caiçara Esporte Clube.
