Estádio dos Coqueiros

The ground sits in the Baixa district of Luanda. It opened in 1947, during the colonial period, and has not moved since. The stadium stands on Rua dos Coqueiros, a name it shares with the street and the surrounding neighbourhood. Originally called Estádio 22 de Julho, it took its current title after independence. That shift in naming marks the change in who runs the country, not the structure itself.

The pitch is surrounded by an athletics track. In 2023, maintenance works focused on planting new grass and leveling the pitch. The capacity is 12,000, a figure that has not changed despite the renovations. A major rebuild occurred in 2004–2005, re-inaugurated on July 17, 2005, though the cost of that work is not public. More recent efforts in 2023 prepared the facility for clubs like Kabuscorp and Petro de Luanda, whose main homes were unavailable.

History here is layered. The Luanda Selection played friendly matches against SL Benfica in 1950, 1962, 1970, and 1972, and against FC Porto in 1974. The stadium also hosts concerts, a function that sometimes conflicts with football. In January 2026, a Girabola match between Guelson FC and Desportivo da Huíla was cancelled one hour before kickoff because the National Arbitration Commission intervened late regarding a concert stage. The ground is owned by the Government of Luanda Province.
