Fernie Fields

Fernie Fields sits in the Moulton Park district of Northampton, where the ground keeps its side in the Spartan South Midlands Football League. The pitch itself carries the name O'Riordan Bond Stadium following a sponsorship deal, though the wider site remains Fernie Fields. The club founded in 1968 that calls this place home has used it as its base since the early 2000s, long after the Fernie Fields Sports and Social Club was established in 1986.

What distinguishes the venue is how it operates as a shared community asset rather than a single-purpose arena. The surface is natural grass, maintained by a robotic mower. The capacity is cited with some discrepancy: the League Ground Book lists 1,700, while other sources place the figure closer to 1,000. The club’s clubhouse holds up to 100 people for gatherings. Northampton Town F.C. Women also play their home fixtures in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands here.

The professional first team of Northampton Town has occasionally utilised the ground for pre-season friendlies. One such encounter in July 2013 drew a crowd of 953, a figure often confused with the higher attendances at their primary home, Sixfields Stadium. The site also houses the White Melville Bowls Club and serves as a community centre for scouts and local sports groups. It is owned and operated by Northampton Borough Council, which has funded improvements to floodlights and the pitch over the last three decades.
