Fiete-Reder-Halle

Rostock, Germany

Formerly: Sporthalle Marienehe

The Fiete-Reder-Halle is located on Marieneher Straße in the northern district of Rostock. The structure is not a purpose-built arena but a converted aircraft production facility dating back to 1930, when the Ernst Heinkel Flugzeugwerke company used the site. The building now houses a wooden parquet floor for handball.

Since the late 1940s, the hall has served the local sporting community, having been repurposed as the Sporthalle Marienehe. The name changed permanently on September 9, 2006, to honour Paul-Friedrich "Fiete" Reder. The interior capacity sits at 1,300.

The venue hosts matches for both HC Empor Rostock and Rostocker HC. Its recent history includes appearances in the DHB-Pokal, where HC Empor Rostock secured a 42–40 victory over HSG Nordhorn-Lingen after extra time on October 2, 2024.

There is a limit to the hall's future. As of the 2024/2025 season, the facility is scheduled for demolition to make way for a new sports hall in Marienehe, a project designed to hold approximately 2,000 spectators. The current building remains in use for the clubs in the interim, hosting everything from senior cup ties to local youth events like the Minispielfest.
