The Friedrich-Ebert-Halle has a parquet floor. It sits in the Ebertpark district. The most distinct feature is not architectural, but the noise.

Die Eulen Ludwigshafen play here, and the locals have given the place a nickname that suggests it is not a pleasant night out for the opposing team: "Eberthölle." The capacity is listed at 2,350 for handball matches, which is enough to create a genuine wall of sound. The acoustics are tight.

The venue opened in 1965, built for a horticulture exhibition, but it has lived through decades of sport. A renovation finished in 2018 brought custom LED lighting and acoustic panels to meet broadcasting standards, but the heart of the building remains its history. It has hosted heavy rock concerts for fifty years, from Deep Purple in 1975 to Rammstein in 1997. The Who played here too, and the venue still bears the memory of a riot that damaged parts of the structure.

Television crews have been coming here since the 1980s. Dieter Thomas Heck once hosted "Wetten, dass..?" in the arena, calling it his "living room." The crowd is there to watch their team fight. The floor is natural wood, and when the players move across it, the sound is sharp. The ceiling holds the weight of the old adhesive from previous renovations, but the light hits the court evenly now. Cup football has its own rules, but this is handball, and the rules are simple.
