Gaylord Family–Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

The ground itself carries the name Owen Field, a tribute to the coach who shaped the team in the 1920s. It covers a lot of ground, stretching wide enough to hold a crowd that has seen more than 80,000 people spill out onto the grass at once.

By 1949, an upper deck had been added to the north end, turning the open bowl into a horseshoe shape. That design has stayed mostly the same since, even as the interior was gutted and rebuilt with suites and loge boxes to bring in money.

The name on the roof changed in 2002, when the Gaylord family stepped in to help pay for repairs. The building has hosted everything from rock concerts to playoff games, but the structure remains stubbornly tied to its original purpose.
