The new building for the old club does not pretend to carry the weight of the town’s history. Hala Polárka sits on a site north-east of the former VSH, which was torn down in 2013 to make way for a shopping centre. Inside, the ice is natural and removable, a practical choice for a facility that must share its calendar. HC Frýdek-Místek, known as Rysi, plays here, using the space for the winter hockey season before the ice melts for summer events. The capacity is 2,456, a fraction of what the old hall held. The club reached the playoffs in 2025/2026, a rare moment for a team that has not yet seen the semifinals. The building opened in December 2014, a quiet start to a new era for the city’s ice hockey.
