Hala Sportowa na Osiedlu Zawiszów

The Hala Sportowa na Osiedlu Zawiszów sits on ul. Galla Anonima 1 in Świdnica. The building opened in 2003 and carries the name of the city council, which renamed it in 2019 to honour the local volleyball player Halina Aszkiełowicz-Wojno. The facility sits under the management of the Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji w Świdnicy (OSiR Świdnica), a municipal body that looks after the town’s sports grounds.

It is an indoor hall, and the distinction is clear when you look inside. The floor is sprung parquet, marked with the lines for handball, basketball and volleyball. ŚKPR Świdnica, the men’s handball club founded in 1974, plays its home fixtures here. The hall also hosts the MKS Polonia Świdnica volleyball team and a number of local associations. The capacity for spectators is 560.

Modernisation work has been carried out in stages. In 2021 the council upgraded the lighting to LED units, spending over 239,000 PLN at the time. Two years later, a larger grant of 300,000 PLN went towards replacing the floor and the surrounding equipment.

It does not host national finals or draw crowds that fill the section. The fixtures are local, the matches are played on a floor that has been replaced. It is not a destination in itself, but it is the only sports hall of its kind in Świdnica that combines handball and volleyball under one roof.
