The Helsinki Ice Hall is not a place for summer football.
The main hall is built for ice, not grass. Inside, the floor is a sheet of frozen water, marked for hockey.
HIFK has called this place home for decades. The team plays here, and the local community knows the sound of skates on ice better than the roar of a crowd on turf.
It is also a hall for music. Black curtains can be drawn across the seating to create a standing area for concerts, though the atmosphere is different from a stadium.
The building does not hide its age.
