Khiuaz Dospanova Ice Palace

The Khiuaz Dospanova Ice Palace sits in the central part of Atyrau, near the Nursay-3 microdistrict. Built with funds from the Atyrau Regional Budget, the venue opened in June 2009, shortly before an official visit by the President of Kazakhstan in October of that year. Its name honours Khiuaz Dospanova, a Kazakh Soviet aviator and Hero of the Soviet Union, a decision made at the time of its opening.

Inside, the arena features an artificial ice surface created via mechanical refrigeration systems utilizing German units. The ice rink itself covers more than 1,800 square meters. It serves as the home arena for HK Beibarys Atyrau, a professional ice hockey team competing in the Pro Hokei Ligasy. The club has won the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship multiple times and reached the final of the 2016–17 IIHF Continental Cup.

While the primary function is hockey, the venue is also used for public ice skating sessions and has hosted other events, including the KZMMAF Atyrau Sport Fest in August 2017. The capacity is a matter of some debate among observers: some sources cite 800 spectators, while others list 1,000, and a ticketing platform notes 638 seats plus a standing sector. There is no evidence of significant renovations altering this arrangement since its inception. The building is located at 54 Abulkhair Khan Avenue.
