Kunsteisbahn im Chreis is not a cathedral of sport. It is a functional ice rink in Dübendorf.

The facility has existed on this site since 1942, when it was a natural ice field. The transition from open air to a refrigerated enclosure changed the rhythm of the game. Before that, a match could be called off by a warm front; after that, the ice remained. The ammonia system that keeps the surface solid is standard for a rink of this tier, but it ensures that the EHC Dübendorf, the club that has played here since 1939, does not lose a fixture to the sun.

The arena sits on Hermikonstrasse 68. It has no sponsor’s name on the main structure, only the local dialect term for the district. Inside, the ice is maintained to a standard that allows the second-tier team to play a full season without interruption.
