Kunsteisbahn Wetzikon
Wetzikon, Switzerland
The Kunsteisbahn Wetzikon does not announce itself with a sponsor’s name on the roof. What catches the eye is the steel roof structure, a wide span that must have required some serious engineering work.
The card lists 4,000 places, but the seats themselves are a matter of debate — the club’s website says 900, another source claims 1,500.
EHC Wetzikon lives here. The men play in the MyHockey League, the third tier, and the women compete in the SWHL C (W). The club has been around since 1949, long before the current building went up. They are not the only team to pass through; EHC Blau-Weiss Dübendorf trained here in its early days, and the Züri Wolves and EZO Huskys have also used the ice. The biggest crowd gathered for a Swiss Ice Hockey Cup match in the 2016/17 season, when Genève-Servette HC came to town and 2,500 people turned out to watch.
