Kuwait Entertainment City Cricket Ground
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Formerly: D-TACK, TACK Entertainment City Cricket Ground, Doha Entertainment City Cricket Ground
The Kuwait Entertainment City Cricket Ground sits on the western edge of Kuwait City. Built alongside the amusement park when it opened in 1984, the pitch itself came later. The turf was not laid until 2003. The ground belongs to the Association for Cricket in Kuwait, known as the TACK.
The capacity holds 7,000 people. The TACK-Huawei 4 Nations T20 Festival brought that crowd together on a November evening in 2014.
The venue has hosted the ICC World Twenty20 Asia Qualifier 'A' in 2018. The United Arab Emirates closed the game out against Qatar in the final, while Kuwait defeated Saudi Arabia in the third-place play-off. The ground has also seen the Ramadan Cricket League finals and domestic titles decided by the TACK-MGCC.
The original amusement park closed in 2016 and was demolished in 2020. The site is being redeveloped under the Amiri Diwan into The New Entertainment City. The cricket ground remains, standing between the old rides and the future. The surface is natural grass, or so one source claims, but the exact nature of the pitch is less critical than the fact that the ball bounces true. The capacity has not been tested since 2014, and it may not be again for some time.
