Leistungszentrum Kanalstraße

Leistungszentrum Kanalstraße is not a place where crowds gather for spectacle.

The hall sits quietly at Kanalstraße 30. The main hall measures twenty-seven by forty-five meters, a size that feels intimate rather than imposing. The synthetic floor is practical for handball, though the details of its make are not recorded. It is a room that works.

The ground has had more than one name. It started as Leistungszentrum Kölker, then Forst-Halle, before settling on BHC-Halle for a time, and finally becoming Leistungszentrum Kanalstraße. The building was completed in spring 2020, following a topping-out ceremony the previous December.

Bergischer HC uses the venue for their 2. Handball-Bundesliga matches. The chess team SG Solingen also plays here in the Schachbundesliga. There are no grand concerts or major finals held in this hall. It does not try to be anything other than a local sports facility.

There is a functional building attached to the main hall, housing the locker rooms and a gym. It is a straightforward setup. No attendance record stands out, nor does any significant event mark the calendar of the venue. It is simply where the teams play when they need a roof over their heads.
