Lye Meadow

The ground sits at the end of Redditch Road in a Worcestershire village, a constituency of one club since the 1950s. Alvechurch F.C. built the stands themselves; the ground opened in 1957.

The pitch is a natural grass rectangle, and the floodlights are low and functional rather than imposing. There is no enclosed roof over any section, and the air moves freely between the two rivers that run through the valley. The capacity has been trimmed to 3,000 — a figure that reflects modern safety requirements rather than the ground's original ambition. In 1965, an FA Amateur Cup quarter-final brought 13,500 people to watch Enfield, a crowd that makes the current terraces look almost empty. That match ended 1–3 to the visitors, but it remains the benchmark for what this place once held.

The club changed its name back to Alvechurch in 1996, but the stadium has kept its own history; it has never carried a sponsor's name, nor has it been renamed after a local figure.
