McCook Park

Brisbane, Australia

McCook Park sits in the suburb of Newmarket. The playing surface is natural grass, bordered by sheltered seating and picnic tables rather than tiered concrete.

The site has a history that predates the current club. Long before Newmarket Soccer Football Club took up residence in 1949, the land served as a tannery and then a rail yard. The park eventually took its name from the McCook family, who once ran a Jersey stud farm on the grounds. The Brisbane City Council acquired the land, and while the specific year of dedication is not recorded, the community space has persisted through those changes. The name 'Australian Postal Institute' was used by the club in its early years, but the venue itself has kept its title.

Newmarket SFC has built its record on this patch of grass, winning Division 3 Grand Finals in 1993 and 1996, and finishing as runners-up in Division 1 in 1983. More recently, the side won the FQPL 3 Metro premiership in 2024 and 2025. There are no large-scale records to cite here.
