Miskolci Jégcsarnok
Miskolc, Hungary
The Miskolci Jégcsarnok sits in the Népkert district. The building owes its shape to the moveable floor system inside, which allows the ice surface to be covered for other sports and concerts when the rink is not in use. The main tenant, the DVTK Jegesmedvék, plays their matches here.
On the arena's exterior, a large, curved roof sweeps over the white facade, supported by steel beams visible through the angled glass panels. The entrance is marked by red doors set into a stone base, and a dark car sits parked on the gravel in front while workers appear to be making adjustments near a ladder. To the right, a red-brick building with an arched doorway stands adjacent to the main structure, creating a contrast in materials.
Inside the complex, the Miskolc Városi Szabadidőközpont shares a wall with the arena. A statue of a figure with raised arms stands before the Generali Aréna sign, guarding a small reflecting pool on the paved square. The brickwork here is lighter and more uniform, showing signs of weathering.
The venue has hosted international matches, including games in the Kontinentális Kupa, and the highest confirmed attendance for an ice hockey match was 2,140 spectators during an Erste Liga fixture. The team previously competed in the Slovak Extraliga before returning to the Hungarian league. The facility was commissioned by the Municipality of Miskolc and fully funded by the city, with construction costs amounting to 1.1 billion Hungarian forints.
