New Manor Ground

The New Manor Ground does not loom over Ilkeston. It sits low along Awsworth Road. In the summer of 2021 the club laid down a 4G surface, and the pitch has been that way ever since. One side carries a long, covered stand; behind each goal there is a covered terrace.

It opened in August 1992, stepping in after the Old Manor Ground closed following a century of use. The move came when the club changed hands. The capacity holds around 3,000, but the real number is smaller on a wet Tuesday in Derbyshire.

On 30 July 2013 the place filled to 2,680 for a friendly with Chelsea, a match the visitors won 5–1. More recently the ground has played host to FA Cup ties against Hartlepool United and Hereford FC. The club has also staged finals for the Derbyshire FA Senior Challenge Cup.

What stays is the contrast between the old cottages and the modern roof, between the artificial grass and the days when cricket was played here. The pitch is 4G.
