OBOS Arena

The ground in Kringsjå serves as the proper home for Lyn 1896's women's team. It opened in 2015.

What sets it apart is simply its function. It is a local facility in the Nordre Aker district. The capacity is small, fitting 1,000 spectators. The players who use it are used to the surface and the conditions.

The stadium is situated at Olav M. Troviks vei 13, in a residential area where the noise of a match on a Saturday afternoon does not dominate the neighbourhood. It was originally known as Kringsjå kunstgress before the sponsorship deal with OBOS changed its name. The change was purely commercial; the physical reality of the pitch and the stands remained the same.

Inside, the facilities are functional. There are no luxury boxes or grand entrance halls. The dressing room is tiled and utilitarian, with rows of seats and some exercise bikes for warm-ups. It is a working space for athletes, not a showcase for sponsors. The red tracksuits hanging in the locker room are the only colour in an otherwise grey and white space.

None of this is to suggest it lacks value. For the players, it is where they train and where they pick up their points. For the fans, it is a place where they can watch their team without travelling across the city. The ground does not fancy its chances of hosting a European match, nor does it pretend to. It is a local club's home, and that is enough.

The surface is firm underfoot, allowing for quick passing moves. The players who come here know that they can raise the tempo when they need to, but they also know that the competition is tough. The stadium itself is quiet between games, but on matchdays it serves its purpose efficiently. It is not a legendary ground, but it is a proper one.
