Palais des sports d'Orléans

The Palais des sports Jean Ros occupies a site that was once the military prison for Orléans. The arena opened in March 1970, though some sources cite 1971 as the year it was put into service. It sits at 14, rue Eugène Vignat, where the grounds were cleared after the old walls came down in 1966.

Inside, the floor is solid beech wood parquet laid on a double floating subfloor. The arena was renamed Palais des sports Jean Ros on April 19, 2024, in honour of the local sports figure who served as President of the Loiret Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee for 28 years. Prior to the renaming, it was known simply as Palais des sports d'Orléans.

The venue hosts Saran Loiret Handball. Orléans Loiret Basket moved to the larger CO'Met Arena for domestic games in 2023. Notable events include the 2025 Davis Cup first-round qualifier, where France defeated Brazil, and the 2022 European Golden League women's volleyball final. The arena has also hosted concerts by Johnny Hallyard between 1970 and 1983.

On the side, a swimming pool was closed in June 2018 due to Legionella bacteria, and the highest documented attendance remains 5,300 visitors for the Orléans Game Show in June 2019. The venue is managed by the City of Orléans, and its official information is available on the municipal site.
