The Prandtauerhalle serves as a critical hub for St. Pölten’s sporting life. Erected in 1974, the venue sits at Dr.-Theodor-Körner-Straße 8. Its name honours Jakob Prandtauer, the Baroque architect renowned for Melk Abbey.
Inside, the hall is defined by its scale. With a capacity of 500, it is a space where spectators sit close to the action on the synthetic parquet floor. Pölten Handballerinnen compete in the Austrian Women's Handball League.
The building itself tells a story of deferred maintenance. A renovation plan estimated at 2.7 million Euros has been proposed to address these flaws, but bureaucratic disputes between the state and city authorities have kept the funds frozen as of 2025.
