Rice–Eccles Stadium

Rice–Eccles Stadium sits in Salt Lake City, Utah, on a site where Robert Rice Stadium stood before being demolished in 1997. The current structure opened in September of that year, designed to replace the original.

Inside, the playing surface is artificial, specifically the CoolPlay system with a cork layer. This replaced a hybrid SportsGrass surface in 1999. The pitch is marked for American football. This reflects its use by Real Salt Lake, who played here from 2005 to 2008, and the Salt Lake Stallions of the American Arena Football League in 2019. The stadium is also scheduled to host the 2027 NHL Winter Classic between the Utah Mammoth and the Colorado Avalanche, further proving its versatility beyond the college gridiron.

Capacity sits at 51,444 following an expansion completed in 2021. However, the figures matter less than the setting.
