Rocknet aréna
Chomutov, Czechia
Formerly: Multifunkční aréna Chomutov, SD Aréna
The Rocknet aréna sits on the edge of Chomutov. The building arrived in 2011 on the site of former military barracks, part of a wider project to modernise the area.
Inside, the facility is an indoor sporting arena, and the ice is the central feature. The arena is the permanent home of the Piráti Chomutov ice hockey team, which moved in when the building opened. It has also hosted other events, including a recent Women's Handball World Championship qualification playoff.
The venue has changed its name a few times since it opened. It started as the Multifunkční aréna Chomutov, then became the SD Aréna after a local mining company took the sponsorship. The current name, Rocknet aréna, has been in place since 2018. It is a utilitarian space, built to replace the old ČEZ Stadion, and it has settled into its role as the main indoor sports venue for the town.
