Most weekends in winter, the Proligue side JS Cherbourg Manche Handball plays here. The venue is not exclusively theirs, though; it hosts basketball, volleyball, and a dojo, and once staged a roller derby bout. The floor was replaced in a renovation finished in September 2022, a project costing €2.8 million that followed eight months of work. Before that, the hall had been in use since at least 2006, with tennis tournaments taking place on its courts.

It is a place where the game is the focus, not the surroundings. The capacity is modest, a reflection of the town's size rather than the ambition of the club. The stands are not high, and the atmosphere is close, the sound of the ball being played echoing off the walls. It is a place where the players are close to the crowd, and the game feels immediate.
