Seoul World Cup Auxiliary Stadium Haena96 · CC0

Sangam-dong shares its postcode with the main arena, and the auxiliary ground sits in its shadow, taking on whatever the World Cup Stadium does not need. It went up alongside the bigger venue, opening the same week in November 2001, and it has never carried a name of its own beyond the practical one — locals just call it Sangam-gujang or Sangam-beol, same as the neighbour it serves.

There is no first team here. The tenant is Seoul City Hall WFC, playing in the WK League, and the smaller capacity makes the arrangement work: a women's fixture does not need seventy thousand seats, and the auxiliary pitch gives the club a proper home without competing for the main stadium's calendar against FC Seoul or the national team.

The bigger stadium next door had its playing surface reworked in 2022, swapping the old natural turf for a hybrid pitch stitched through with a small percentage of synthetic fibre. Whether the auxiliary field received the same treatment has not been confirmed, and nothing here suggests it is worth guessing at.
