Skara idrottshall

Skara idrottshall sits in the Vila Recreation Area. It is not an ice hockey arena, a fact that separates it from the local rink. Built in 1963, the hall has been used for indoor sport.

Locals call it "Borgen", or The Fortress. The official seating is listed at 1,100, but the record was set on May 6, 2025, when 1,150 spectators packed in for the first match of the Swedish Handball Championship final series. Skara HF won that series 3–1 against IK Sävehof. The hall also held the first semifinal of the ATG Svenska Cupen in November 2021.

Before Skara HF formed in 1993 through a merger, the handball section belonged to the wider Skara Idrottsförening. The hall is used for floorball, judo, and wrestling, but it is the handball that fills the seats. In the mid-1960s, the venue hosted the "Ostmässan" cheese fair, with visitors transported by a vehicle called "Ostpilen". Renovations have kept the ventilation and acoustics up to scratch, even when discussions in 2015 suggested the space did not meet the requirements for the top-tier Elitserien.
